How do u start a career on computer network fields?

hi,
I am currently still studying my information science degree, majoring in information system and computer science and intended to do computer network for my degree.
So far i did network programming paper ( material teached 5 layers of networks and the use of it and software programming) and currently doing internet programming paper (programming in java and PHP)

Since my degree is in computer science i didnt get told all the hardware stuff.

I heard from many people to administarte a network you need to know both hardware and software

I'll be really glad if any of you can explain the staircase of network career and suggest me what kind of first job and extra trainning i need to to do before applying network position

Thanks for all your help

Amy

Amy,

Enroll into a technical training school that prepares you for a Cisco Network certification. A CCNE (Cisco certified network engr) is probably a best bet for you to enter into n/w admin roles.

Once you enrol, look for a tech support job that involves n/w support and admin and grow from there into a Jr. N/w admin and eventually to an IT manager.
