What Pro rata means in regards to part time jobs?

Hi,

I ve came across this pro rata word so many times when looking for work.
When it says 拢20.000 pro rata, does that acctually menas I will be getting the 拢20.000 per annum? or is there some sort of catch like it would be 20.000 for full time but because its part time it will be less depending on hours?
Can someone please explain?

Many thanks

It comes from the word prorate which means to divide proportionately. That means the 20,000 will be divided proportionately among the part time workers. It further means that the part timer who worked more hours will have a bigger share than the part time worker who worked less.

Peace and blessings!
Yes, it means that the job pays at a rate that would be 拢20,000 per year if it were a full time job; if they actually want to engage someone for a fraction of the full time hours, they will pay the same fraction of the full-time-equivalent salary.
