I want to change my career and go into i.t?

I want to do an M.C.S.E. and would like to become a systems analyst or developer but worried about job prospects afterwards as i have no experience of working in the industry. Any suggestions?

The first thing to do would be to take an aptitude test. Not everyone has the appropriate mental approach to be good in this area. If you "pass" the tests you need to think about the area of IT you want to be in. For example communications and database design are both technical in different ways; programming requires high levels of logic (amongst other things); systems analysis requires a mix of technical, business and people skills. A quick look on google for aptitude tests reveals that a lot of independent companies offer these. I would avoid them if possible - they have their short-term profit as a primary goal - not your job prospects. Ask your local college or uni if they have these tests.

Without experience in industry you would be starting at the bottom, but, if you are good, pay will rise rapidly. You may want to approach a large company, such as a bank, to see if they are recruiting at junior level. They would include aptitude testing in their recruitment process.

The IT industry is volatile - different languages and software packages and environments come and go. Therefore it is useful to have a broad basis in the principles. This cannot be achieved through short courses. So, avoid "colleges" that offer to get you trained in a matter of weeks then get you a job. You will lose money on these training "schemes". A degree would be a better approach - but not available to someone who needs to make a living at the same time.

To sum up: there are two real options. The first is to get onto a trainee scheme; the second is to take a degree course (preferably with a year in industry). There are no short cuts. If there were then more people would do it, and rates of pay for good people would not be so high.

Good luck. Source(s): Working in IT and teaching it for 30 years
i am having the same problem too.
In IT exeperience is very important ,without exeperience it's very difficult to find jobs especially living in the country like singapore ,I know because i in IT field

Or u can try to get IT helpdesk jobs

to make yourelf market value some of the application youi need to know like Lotus note,Novell server of course there is more to learn in IT
I think its a good choice. In IT there s a lot of competition but more opportunities than in any field. Experience is important but one could always work for low small comp. to gain experience. In ma opinion go for it.
