Software testing. QA jobs? |
I am a tester by profession and I am on H1 B visa. I got visa last year but unable to get a job. Currently I am in Dallas Texas, but willing to relocate anywhere in US. I dont have much experience in automated testing but expertise in manual testing over 5 years. Can you give me suggestion that which locations I should look and what approach I should use so that I can get a job? Here is my sincere suggestion: 1. Try to learn a few automation tools ( No need to be a expert). How to do that: Mercury.com has two week free license for Quick Test Pro. Learn using the tutorial Mercury.com has a 10 day free license for Loadrunner. Learn using tutorial W3 schools has tutorials for XML and SQL. Learn them Check qaforums.com for some ideas and free tools. Try to find a test director user guide in google and go through it. the tool is simple. user guide will give you an idea. 2. How can get a job? You have a H-1 visa. so search for jobs on dice.com (corp-corp jobs). you will find a pleanty of them. Keep sending your resume. Upload it during after hours so that your resume will be the first one when the employer looks for resume. Also, keep checking monster.com, hotjobs.com. Also, you can register with contract companies you see on dice, so that they consider you for other positions when they have readily available. Conclusion: Automation is not greek or roman. Go with confidence. understand the logic behind it and learn to manage it in a interview and u will get time to learn it in detail once join the job. Let me know, if you have any further questions... |
