Jobs doin credit checks isnt that a bit much? |
ppl want good jobs to get out of debt now they cant get good jobs because of debt it is a catch 22, but as a general rule, if you are applying to a management position and your personal finances are out of control, you probably will not be a good candidate for managing business affairs. A credit check for lower positions like a cashier or other unskilled worker is a bit out of line, but it does make sense in higher positions.I personally think it has to do with the job and whether or not a requirement for the job is financial responsibility. For example, if the prospective employee would be involved with creating and maintaining a budget, I think a credit check is reasonable. Also, if the person would potentially have access to money, I think a credit check is justifies as well. If someone has a large amount of debt, I would say they are more likely to steal money from their employer. In either case, I think the credit expectations should be pretty reasonable. Even if someone will be handling a budget, I think that everything except truly abysmal credit should be considered. it all depends on the job. i don't want someone working at my bank that can't handle their own finances....ya know? when i was a retail manager, once you were up for a co or store manager position, you had to get your credit in check b/c why would the largest retailer in the world let you run one of their stores if you can't even run your own finances. now, if your job has nothing to do with money, then i think it's silly. however, people in debt may have more of an inclination to steal...so, that's a thought. take care. |
