Future Occupation involving engineering/designing? |
Hello, I'm about to pick my university courses for next year, and I need a direction in where to go. I enjoy the prospect of engineering, the idea of constructing, but not just normal houses or tea-pots etc. I'll rather the prototype projects. I also enjoy designing, which ties in with engineering, The type of designs with sketches and ideas which form into something more than just a normal-everyday feat. In context to things i would like to do, My hobbies include, cycling, sports in general, Cars and more cars and music. I'm just asking for any occupations which might interest me and the courses in universty which might have to be taken. Thankyou in advance, Michael. If you qualify and are extremely smart, then go to an engineering college that is part of a University system. They will have several areas to choose from. Start with your basic math and science classes -- you need to have them no matter which discipline you go into. Don't necessarily specify a major within engineering your first year if you are not sure. You can end up taking classes that are totally worthless if you switch later on. The University I attended had an annual Engineering fair type of thing where different things were demonstrated in several different disciplines. You should attend one of these first if you can, to see all kinds of different areas. Also, there is a big boom in motorsports engineering. If you are into cars -- go into something like Mechanical engineering. There will be cars, design elements, and plenty of prototypes to deal with. |
