many skills.
I work for a software company, and you need one of two things -- schooling in the area, or experience in the working world.
If you don't want to go to school, I would recommend working in a computer store. This will give you a basic level of experience that HR people will respect. In our company you wouldn't get through the HR department unless you can convince the HR Manager that you have what we need. And she doesn't know the difference between someone who can build their own computers and someone who barely knows enough to go to Best Buy and pull one off the shelf.
Someplace that sells computers (Best Buy, Fry's, etc.) is more likely to allow you to work there for around minimum wage and get your start. |
