Where to start in the IT Networking field? |
So here's my story, I went to DePaul University and graduated with a BFA in Theatre. I started my career as an actor and that lasted a year before I gave up acting all together. I've fallen in love, gotten engaged and enjoy a quiet life in bliss except for 1 problem. I NEED A CAREER!! I want to get into the IT field, I've got good connections but I don't want to go back to school for 2 years. I want to work in Networking. what certification course should I take? Start from Comptia Certifications... A+, Networking+ then go Microsoft Certifications. MCSA, MCSE You should finish it in about 6 months if youre a fast learner. Networking is a Vast Topic. The first area you should concnetrate is on the BASIC Netowrking. If you learn CCNA, you will get the funda. And try to take the certification also. Then its according t your wish on which area to specalize. Lot of streams In OS Side, you can get specialized on Windows Administration - MSCE Windows + Active Directory - MCSE Windows + Active Directory + Exchange - MCSE Messaging Linux - RHCE Unix Sun Solaris - SCSE NOVELL - CNE Network Side CCNP with advanced concepts of networking CCSP for security Database OCP for ORACLE MCDBA - SQL DB2 - IBM DB2 Then Messaging Exchange Server Lotus Then Citrix - CCP You speazilise on one or two which are related to each other.
