Can someone please give me some ideas?

What are some job opportunities starting from, or advancing to, a network administrator position? What are some additional training necessary for employees to advance. Are there any roles for organizational incentives and mentoring to develop talent pools?

Please! Any help or tips are kindly appreciated.

You start with a Desktop Support Engineer / Junior System Engineer or Some similar position which you will be dealing with some Level 1 issues.

Later, Get Certified in

1) Networking - CCNA which will give the funda of Networking
If you want to be in core netwoking, go for CCNP, CCSP, CCIE etc.. :)
2) Operating System
MCSE - If you are concentrating on Microsoft Technologies
RHCE - Redhat Linux Certification
SCSE - Sun Solaris
CNE - Novell
3) Messaging / Database / Application
Exchange Server
Lotus Notes
Oracle
SQL
DB2
Citrix

Get certified in the related stuffs.
CCNA + MCSE + One application / Database / Messaging is a good combination.

All the veru best

Cheers!

you'd probably need to start out as a network tech-running cables, troubleshooting problems, configuring new computers on the network, etc. as with any job, it pays to be indispensable-or appear that way. get to the point where people start to think of you as the person to go to with questions and you'll be ripe for advancement. the best way to move on to a different position is to get really good at the one you have. doesn't necessarily make the most sense, but people aren't really that logical anyway. computer guru? me? gosh no, but i did sleep in a tent last nite!
