Want to work IT job with minimum experience?

Wanting some advice. I'm not a newbie or anything...I do all my own computer work but I don't know a TON. I have no prob going to school but I was wondering if a certificate would be enough to get a job (then I can continue it up)? I like to help people so was thinking maybe some sort of help desk or technician job, would it be enough for those? Anyone have any advice for someone like myself??

Thanks in advance!

Absolutely a certification will help you get an entry-level IT job. Keep in mind, without any experience, you won't be a top-contender, but certifications do make a difference.

Once you have the job, whether you advance or not is up to you... you have to continue with your education, staying on top of the latest technology. You might even decide to pursue an academic degree to help yourself along. A little friendly advice: take time to develop some good customer-service skills. IT folks aren't known for having good customer-service skills, so if you have them, it will help you stand out among your peers. My spouse is a CIO of an 100-person IT dept. and he recently promoted a woman to a director's position... she started in IT as an entry-level help desk person. Granted, she's not only kept up on certifications, but also went to school and eventually earned a master's degree. Education pays off.

Good luck!
