Computer Tech? |
Could I just study for the certification (A+ , Network +, etc) and apply for a job without a college degree? Could I get a job that way? I can't afford school anymore. Yes you can. A lot of company's advertise for people with A+ certification. Mainly smaller busines' If your looking for the Money and Large Company . They are the ones asking for the college Kid. Try getting a job in the business you wish to pursue . At the same time get the schooling as best you can. Might take a couple of years longer. But there is nothing better than a Degree and work experience when applying for the Better Positions. You can always get a job, it is just that employers prefer that you have a degree because it will mean more profits to them. You might have a chance if your employer is nice and offers you the job without a degree. I have found that in the hi-tech field that experience is far more important than a degree. The technology changes so quickly that it is near impossible for colleges/certificate programs to adapt their curriculum to the new "stuff". Consider lowering your expectations and applying for an entry level job or internship at a service company. You will get educated and you will get paid far cheaper than, than a certificate program or college! You might be able to get your foot in the door at places like CompUSA, Best Buy, and others that do in-house PC repair and upgrades. The pay isn't great when compared to other IT career fields, but it's much better than flipping burgers. . |
