Why not the Govt impose regulation on advertsements on "work from home" jobs exploitng weakness of people? |
There are a lot of attractive advertisements appearing in the Print Media and the internet offering various home based jobs or work from home jobs, part time / full time jobs etc. for data entry work, data editing, data correction, data conversion, Web surfing, email reading etc. The weak minded people in an urge to get a earning fall a prey to these advertisements. If one visits any of the web site mentioned in the Ad. you may find at the last paragraph that you have to pay consultancy fees or some arbitrary payment. If the Companies are really interested in getting the jobs done they can make some online interview of the aspirant, and give sample works on line by sending scanned matter for data conversion and editing and also data entry work etc., verify the credentials of the applicant sincerely for security including physical verification and offer jobs. Instead, these advertisements do little to offer real time jobs in the true sense. There is already to a significant extent, sector specific regulation legislated by the Government. Indeed, the Government has introduced pocket regulation of many specific employment areas (e.g. see Part Time Workers Regulations; Telesales Regulations (implementing EU Directive); Homeworkers Regulations; Flexible Working Regulations....But they do not even begin to tackle the deep problems. The advertisments are not very well regulated, but note the discrimination legislation which prohibits discriminatory advertisements. I only begin to list the employment legislation, and this excludes the immense amount of case law that's built up around casual workers and home workers, to protect their employment rights where the government have not been doing so and businesses have exploited them. Employment law is now immense, confusing, complex, and does not even remedy the greatest injustices for the poorest people because the government accepts too many economic and free market arguments. That is classic work from this New Labour government. It because the policing and monitoring of these sites and ads would take millions and a lot of people.Maybe they just don't think it's fiscally sound. |
