What courses are useful to have if thinking of a career in IT? |
Friend already has European Computer Driving licence and Clait, What is a good IT job to do and in demand in the uk please? A lot depends on what your IT interests are. A good all round qualification would be an HND in the area of IT that you are interested in. Another possibility depending on age is to try to get on to a modern apprenticeship scheme. Some job suggestions: Training. Teach other people about IT. Adult Education is a good thing to get into and the pay is good. Many Adult education centres run daytime course and evening courses in IT such as the CLAIT course, word processing, spreadshets, the internet etc. IT technician. If you are practical this is a great job. Work in a school or college. The pay is not brilliant, but you will gain a lot of experience. Web design. If you are artistic and have knowledge of HTML, Dreamweaver, PHP it can be very rewarding both financially and artistically. I believe it's great to have web programming skills right now such as the LAMP system, javascript, ruby on rails etc... These are the basics skills required to work at many startups. You can also try to take courses on Microsoft certified certificates or Cisco's hope this helps As Alan S says, it very much depends on the area of IT that you want to enter. Web page design? Software design? Hardware design? Computer engineering? Computer technician? Systems analyst? Etc.... I think you need to investigate the career area moer.
