I applied for a managment positions rescently and was denied the job because they said my backgrownd check came up "dirty." I had just had one done last summer with no problems and did not get in to any trouble in between. My search for info has been extensive and to no avail. Does any one have any advice?
I would call the company back and ask what issue came up in the background checking process. Some times it is an error on behalf of the company, school you attended and such. Some times the person does not want to tell you that someone else was chosen so they make up a reason to tell you. Did the dates for your schooling match up? Did you college verify your degree correctly? Was all the information you gave them correct? Or did they call the wrong company/school and were told you did not attend or work there? What you could do is ask to see a copy of it. Otherwise you could go an online background check on yourself. It costs a few dollars, but would be worth it if there is something there that shouldn't be. It depends on what they mean by dirty. I would ask what the new background check said.
