what can you tell me about the process of getting an idea on paper and worth money?

i've had an dea for nearly 6 months now, and i cant seem to get rid of it (not that i'm trying). but it continues to pop up so i'm going to do the research, and put some effort into possibly making a few dollars.

as long as you have it on any paper then you have the copyrights on it. doens't last for very long like life so get a paton on it.
