Changing jobs with a contract company?

I am currently working for a placement company as a contractor for a large corporation. I was told I was going to be doing one job but have been doing something completely different. Anyone have experience with going to your company and asking for a new assignment? Are you out of work until they find something else for you? Who's side are they really on? I know that my company wants to continue doing business with this corporation but will they just find me a new assignment on the downlow?

From my experience, you're boned..

Most consultant companies only care if you're currently billing and working. I've been is positions where people have asked to be reassigned; no such luck; unless there's a perfect fit waiting for you, I wouldn't hold my breath. Who's side are they on? Their own side; managers, recruiters, whatever the position in the company, they always look out for their own bottom line. I doubt they will shortchange a current (and paying) client to find another position. Good luck, at least you have time to goof off on Y!A Source(s): http://ohio-insurance-forum.blogspot.com...
