Where can I research different computer occupations? |
I am 26 years old, mom of an 8 year old and a 6 year old. I am ready to go back to college now that both children are in school and doing very well in school. An upcoming inheritance is also providing us a way to pay for it without having to suffer financially while I am in school. My husband also has a job that provides well for us, so money is no concern right now. So here is my question: I love computers and would like to have a job that I get to work on them all day. I've looked into being an IT or a programmer, but how/where can I find other jobs that could go along the same line? Is there a website I can read about different job types and see which one would appeal to me? I agree with the previous answer, one of the best place to research is the job sites. Usually from job descriptions, you can learn what kind of responsibilities and requirements are for a position. You can learn about what kind of day-to-day tasks and responsibilities are like. They also tell you what education and trainings are required. A couple of IT specific job sites for your research www.dice.com www.devbistro.com Another place to look is www.salary.com. Where you enter part of a job title, the site will tell you a fairly good job description. And if you enter a zip code, it will also tell you average and medium salary for the area. It is a good resource when you are considering your potential earnings on your investment.
