Define sap?

SAP is the name of the company that makes the SAP suite of software. It from Germany and is (I think) the 3rd largest SW company in the world. It was started by six IBM executives.

SAP is a suite of business applications that integrate various aspects of a company. The list of modules is EXTENSIVE and cover everything from financial, operations, HR, engineering, materials, purchasing, etc, etc, etc... Each module may also have vertical industry sub-specialties, AND modules can also be customized to meet specific business process or reporting needs.

If you are familiar with the Oracle Applications ecosystem, it is the same, but a different company's product.
