How can I get a job with Apple? |
Like a job job, designing Apple's products and such. I'm 15 now, and I LOVE Apple. This is like a lottery. Apple makes a great system, that millions of people lover, but the jobs market at Apple is much smaller than the total people who want those jobs. But unlike many lotteries, there is stuff you can do to tilt the odds in your favor, of winning your dream job, against the many thousands of others who share your dream. One piece of advice to you is to make effort to visit Apple HQ, learn where Apple has offices for different kinds of work, because you will probably need to relocate to one of those cities. As you are selecting a college to attend, see if it can be in one of those cities, so that you can be visiting Apple offices, and are in the neighborhood any time something opens up. If there is a choice of colleges that fit that bill, look for professor's that champion research projects for Apple, or that could be used in association with Apple products & services. Also look for work-study or college co-op opportunities. This is where various private enterprises help students with college expenses by you alternating a semester or so of college with a chunk of time working at some business. The businesses arrange with the college that each semester they have some fixed number of sudents working there, so that they not hurting when you leave and someone else comes to take your place. Many businesses provide this kind of support for colllege students. You want to seek out those in the Apple research community, since that will help you build contacts that will serve your future drive for your dream career. You can use this in your resume after you graduate, to seek more such work in that area. I believe it is critically important for you to stay current with evolving technology, read science fiction ... you are trying to wrap your mind around what may be the new technology frontiers of tomorrow. What might be around the corner, and how can we get there, how can Apple get there, how can you be part of the team getting Apple there? Put that in an essay that you build on, as in academia you need to have some projects. Ask Apple for permission to use their corporate name in your vision of the future, for your academic projects & offer to share with them your completed essay. Does your high school have any kind of science fair where you could do a project ... it could be a new software idea that you use an Apple product as the vehicle for delivery. It could be a new and different way of using Apple resources. In your promotions to let people know about your project, do not just target the news media, also let Apple know what you are up to, then if you win any awards or "mention" no matter how minor, let them know about that also. |
