What areas out there are getting alot of day labor work.? |
Its good to use to support oneself when in another area. Look in the Yellow Pages, on or off line, for Day Labor Jobs in the geography where you currently located. Day labor can include a variety of tasks where employers do not need full time workers. * construction * road repair * farming * landscaping * cleaning swimming pools * janitorial at a convention * warehousing, loading unloading trucks * factories doing annual inventory Some companies have fluctuating demands for size of work force, so they are either constantly laying people off and rehiring, asking people to do lots of overtime, or calling in temporary workers as they have extra work. While many people can do many of these jobs, some require certain skills and certifications However, in recent times, day labor job sites have earned an ugly reputation as being places where a lot of undocumented aliens get work, so you be sure to have your proof of US citizenship or permanent residence handy, since the Border Patrol may be along to deport anyone who does not have such proof. All the above examples are blue collar work. There's a similar need in the white collar area. Look in the Yellow Pages, on or off line, for Temp worker staffing in the geography where you currently located. Like with the blue collar, where a person may need to be qualified in carpentry or other skills, in the white collar, a person needs to be good in some language, and skilled in relevant tools of the white collar world, such as particular computer skills. Take your resume' to a company like MANPOWER. Also tell them when you are going to be in a particular city ... they may be able to hook you up with a temp job there. Typically, many companies call MANPOWER every day with needs, they check their resume's on file & you may get a phone call. Either you can start work immediately, or they will have to call someone else. Being a temp worker at some company can also put you on the track to becoming a permanent worker there if they like your performance. When a union goes on strike against some company, that company needs a lot of replacement workers in a hurry. They turn to many day laborer places, temp worker places, and can also go to the prison system, and arrange for prisoners to be bussed in during the day. |
