Why do you think Microsoft has emerged as a global leader in software industry? cos its easy to get pirate copies of and stil run Because of IBM's "Open Architecture" for their first PC which MS was closely involved. IOW, being at the right place at the right time. Absolutely 99% of computers around the world uses microsoft and in different languages. Only iMac have it's own distinct software. Bill Gates is amazing!! They have stolen every innovation in the industry. They Fu*k their partners. And they use their dominate position in the industry to lock out competitors (monopolistic practices). Being at the right place at the right time as well as close ties with IBM when they first started. Microsoft have been always been very clever when it comes to marketing their products. Competitors would prefer the term "ruthless" Often providing free services or products at the expense of their competitors. Netscape use to charge for their web browser, Microsoft comes along and develops an equally capable browser and makes it free for the public to use, forcing Netscape out of business. How can any business compete with something that is free? Providing the most popular operating system in the world means they are in a position to make their other software more compatible with Windows. I believe Microsoft have been taken to court by the big software giants and by Congress itself for playing unfairly. Years ago their software use to give me hell - every time I install something new on my harddrive it wouldn't work and sometimes even the whole computer would be effected. I remember spending days and days trying to sort out problems. Computer systems now are far more stable. Thank you Microsoft! It`s IBM complacency, thinking they are the best at the time and no one else can beat them. lesson that was never learn from time immemorial "underestimating your enemy". It is still happening now and will still happen in the future. |
