How do I become a web designer?


Vague question, I know, but do you have any suggestions and/or tips?

first, before learning any software such as Dreamweaver, try to be familiar with xhtml, css. They all have online free sources and tutoring. Then, try to be creative... I have seen so many designers lacking of artistic brain cells... add some flash and learn how to use photoshop to create your pretty websites.
check a local library for a book about website design, this will help you learn some of the basics, then if you go to a school on computers, you may add to that knowledge
Books.. lots of books. Also take the time to research online. Start by learning HMTL, brush up your photoshop skills and learn and then move on to learning PHP / MYSQL and before too long you'll be able to build unique infrastructures. Don't even consider this path unless you'd like to work 20 hours per day 7 days a week for peanuts until you're really good at which point you can earn rediculous money.
