Who else is sick of IT jobs being outsourced to India? |
Every time I contact support for ANY part of my computer, I am forced to decipher the spoken words of the support person on the phone. Their english is so hard to understand, I often end up saying "Thank you, goodbye" without really knowing what they ever said. Can I request a native English speaking support person? Would they hang up on me? lol. Not just IT jobs, accounting jobs as well. I don't think they have a native English speaking person there. I learned to get their email addresses, and start typing. At least I won't spend too much time on the phone trying to figure out what they are saying. I absolutely hate it. It's bad enough that I am computer illiterate but, then I get someone talking to me in an accent I can't understand-----------------ugg... Recently I have had an Indian type accent calling to verify my company name, address, phone number and then they want to transfer me to a supervisor to verify the info (I smell phone switch scam) so I hang up on them. No, when they call----two or three days later, I say "everythings exactly the same, nothing has changed, good bye" and I hang up. Not only am I sick of IT jobs being outsourced, but I am sick of IT workers coming into this country as "guest workers" and taking American IT jobs for less pay than the national average. This drives down wages for everyone, even themselves. It is a boon to the employers because they will always try to pay less and less. We need to get our trade Unions back in this country and we,as union members, need to hold the Union leadership accountable to the workers, so workers will want to (re)join Unions. The percentage of Union leaders who are bad is small, but they give trade Unions a bad name. It is our only chance for protection for the American worker. Otherwise, see ya at Walmart (buying cheap Chinese crap) because you won't be able to afford anything else. And what about the creditor call centers? Egads...I can't ever understand them. As far as the IT thing goes...I don't like the outsourcing because of wage issues. At least I'm fortunate to have taught myself to fix my own computers so I don't have to call tech support. The other reason is when we had our first computer at home IT support was generally Microsoft and they were charging like $20 per minute (I think...back in Win 3.1 days so I don't really remember). |
