What can i include under "activities" in my resume? |
i am applying for an engineering job ( entry level ) i am tryin to fill up my activities so far all i have is just one. [ ActivitiesRockland Indo-American LIONS Club, Valley Cottage, NY Volunteer Service 鈥romoted charity events and volunteered service. ] can you gimme an example of one more ??? it WOULD REALLY MAKE MY DAY thank you in advance:) My best advice is to list an activity you like to do that has nothing to do with Engineering. Do you rock climb? List that. Take salsa lessons? Add it. Addicted to cross word puzzles? Include it. I'm under the impression that its one way to let the interviewer get to know you better and to make yourself stand out in a crowd. You'd be shocked what small things can make people identify with you and land you an interview! The following are possible examples of how you can personalize something and add it to your resume seriously. -Rock Climbing: favorite climbs include Rocky Mountain National Park and the rock wall at my gym. -Salsa Dancing Aficiando -Cross Word Puzzle Genius. Have been easily completing the Monday Times Crossword for 4 years, and am currently working on becoming a regular at completing the Sunday Times Crossword, preferably over coffee. These are just suggestions, but I think you get my point. Good luck! Most employers are not looking for your social activities, what they are looking for are things that highlight physical activities. Having social activities are okay but will they interfere with your working environment? Will you be obligated to meet functions? Are they socially compatible with this employer? I put down my physical activities, Hiking, Running, Mountain Biking and River Runs. and then some social activities that are generic at best: UIU Peacock Alumni Association. School clubs, organized sports, volunteer. When building a resume, the emphasis should not be on activities, what you have is good enough. Focus on skills, work history, related class projects, education. Something that you actually do in your spare time and enjoy and can talk about for 2 minutes |
