Is gold a good investment?hat are the risksks?where is the best place to buy/sell?

has anyone done business with monex?

Gold prices are very volatile. The price is constantly changing in unexpected directions. It was selling at $850 in 1980, and has jumped around a lot since then. Last I saw it was selling at $568, less than 1980. Lots of people claim they have systems to guess which way it will move next, but I have found none of their arguments compelling. Gold buying is gambling from my perspective. Source(s): http://www.gold-eagle.com/charts/35yearg...
(ignore the "breakout" line)
Why buy gold when you can find it yourself. There is lots of it in Alaska. Its not as cold here as you think. And right now the price of an ounce of gold is pretty high.
YES EVEN IF THE VALUE GOES DOWN IT WILL STILL HAVE VALUE AND YOU CAN ALWAYS CASH IN IF THE VALUE GOES UP
Gold is NOT a good investment, look at the price of gold over the last 30 years and compare it to other investments.
Buying gold is like putting money in the bank on the up side, but it also has the potential for a down side.
Ever hear of someone retiring early on their gold investments.
I think better investments could be found thru funds invested in the stock market, but you must compare and judge for yourself.
The gold price is quite high at the moment. Some people still think that it will go up.
But every investment contains risk.
So you have to make sure how much risk you can bear before you invest, how long you can hold the investment before you need the cash back, etc.
The simplest question is when the price of that investment goes down, how much you can lose before you sell it out?
10% of your investment? or just the exact amount of $500.
It is better if you can always access to the information of that investment. At least you can always see the price so that you can response to it when it is up or down.

About the place, you can buy a solid gold from the jewellery shop. If you think it is too dangerous to keep the solid gold yourself, you can buy paper gold from the investment house.
