Why was the tax on petrol not increased in the budget yesterday? (weds 22nd March 06)?
Coz the Chancellor in his "green" budget didn't want to antagonise the voting public by so obviously adding to the cost of living. There might otherwise be a demo against petrol prices and he wouldn't want to be tarred for that - not with his aspiration to be the next PM
because the price of crude is around all time highs the chancellor takes more money as a result of petrol at the pumps costing more. Therefore HE doesnt have to increase it although he will still get more money. surely you dont want it increasing further??!?!?!?!?
