Iam divorced and my former husband is going to be made bankrupt ,does this affect me,we have no ties at all.? |
When we were divorced i got the lions share of the sale of the home as i was looking after the children, the new home ive got is just in my name only. If you are divorced and you own no property or owe no bills that are in both your name and his then it will not affect you. If he is defaulting on a financial obligation that has your name on it then it may affect you. After he declares bankruptcy then do a check of your credit ratings to make sure that it hasn't affected your rating. If it has you can protest it to the credit rating bureau. You're in the clear. Your divorce seperates you legally. No if you are divorced and everything is in your name then you will be ok he has no connections to you in any way, Try not to worry xx You may want to find out what will happen with your support payments, etc. However, I am more concerned that you show no sympathy for your ex at all. Rather, you seem to be gloating that you got the lion's share. Is this why he's going into bankruptcy in the first place? Speaking as someone in bankruptcy, it's not a fun place to be and if you had a hand in putting him there, perhaps you will want to think on that a while. He is, after all, the father of your children. If no shared rights in property or any other savings etc. you are not affected |
