Which countries pay the highest taxes, per head, and where would the uk feature, surely top?
The first answer may only refer to income tax(?) If you take into account indirect taxes such as purchase tax/VAT, duties such as on fuel etc. and other charges such as local authority rates the situation may be different. I think a better picture would be obtained by looking at the government's total tax revenue as a percentage of GNP.
In the end you pay your money and hope the government makes good use of it. denmark @ 68% is the highest. then in order; germany, belgium, netherlands, finland, sweeden, trukey, norway, hungry, italy, austria, france, canada, luxemburg, ireland, the united states and then the united kingdom. (based on average salery of a single person/no kids)
