Why don't I get the married couples allowance? |
The allowance is reduced by 拢1 for every 拢2 of income but is never reduced below 拢2280, so why don't I get it? Married couple`s allowance is no longer available unless either you or your partner were born before 1935. It was phased out a couple of yeas ago, you`re out of luck! You don't automatically get it when you get married, you have to go through the long drawn out process of telling the tax office and claiming it. (couples who are co-habiting are also entitled to it). |
