How much is the percentage of tax imposed on workers in the UK.?
It's fairly high, but on a sliding scale. I don't have the exact figures to hand, but for income tax, it's 0 up to around 15,000 a year, then around 22% up to about 40,000, and beyond that 40%. However, that's just income tax, the UK has a LOT of other taxes - I know in the top band all the taxes together work out around 60-80% of income, depending on the induvidual. One of the three main parties, the Liberal Democrats also want a super tax of 80% on those earning over 100,000 a year.
Edit: It's also sliding - you may the percentage up to each point - like the first 12,000 is untaxed, then anything beyond that at the next level etc, not all at the total. |
