I have ordererd some items of clothing from the US. How can find out how much tax i will pay and when? You might be in trouble here, just recently there was an embargo on cotton clothing entering the UK from the US so its possible that you might find your shipment impounded with no redress. If you receive your goods OK, then you could be charged around 150% of your buying price and including VAT. I recently purchased three sweatshirts totalling 30USD (拢20 ish) total bill from customs was 拢45, made up of import duty, VAT, and the presentation charge. As the vendor in the States has no control of this, and the fact that your goods are held by the Excise people, you have no redress from the vendor. It was only the fact that I could not buy the goods in this country that meant I had to pay up, otherwise I could have bought them here for less than the 拢65 charged. didn't you already pay when checking out (at the website)? depends on what state you bought them from and what the sales tax is in the specific area...where im from we pay 7% 8 cents in the dollar ? Assuming you are in the UK, checkthe HM Revenue and Customs website at http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/home.htm... You shouldn't have to pay any tax...States exempt clothing from sales tax. |
