I have previously filed tax returns; however, in 2006, I earned no money. Must I file a return anyway? If your earnings are less that your standard deduction plus your exemptions you will not need to file. If you had no withholding there would be no reason to file. if you did not make the min income No you do not. http://www.*******************... I would suggest filing a zero return, just so the IRS and the state have a record of you having filed a return. If you don't file, there is always the chance that you could receive correspondence from them asking why you haven't filed, and the time and effort it will take responding is greater than just filing a zero return now and being done with it. No, you don't have anything to file a return on. Even if you had some income, but it was below the amount for your personal situation that would require you to file, you wouldn't have to. |
